Residents of a small Swiss Alpine resort are grappling with shock and grief after a devastating fire tore through a popular local bar late Saturday night, claiming multiple lives and injuring several others.

Authorities said the blaze broke out shortly before midnight in the heart of the resort town, a destination known for its cozy chalets and ski slopes. Despite quick efforts by local firefighters, the flames spread rapidly through the wooden structure, trapping patrons inside before rescue teams could fully contain the fire.

Officials have not yet confirmed the number of victims, but local media reported that several people were found dead inside the building. Others remain hospitalized for smoke inhalation and burns.
