CLARKSVILLE, TN — State Representative Jeff Burkhart, a dedicated public servant and longtime leader in Clarksville, Tennessee, passed away at the age of 63 on Friday morning, November 14, 2025, at his home, family members confirmed.
Burkhart, a Republican, served Tennessee’s House District 75 since his election in 2022. Prior to his time in the General Assembly, he had an extensive career in public service, including over a decade on the Clarksville City Council from 2008 to 2020, and years with the Clarksville Fire Department, where he rose to assistant fire chief. He also worked in the construction industry, developing residential and commercial properties.
A lifelong Clarksville resident, Burkhart graduated from Northwest High School in 1980 and earned an associate degree in Fire Science from Volunteer State Community College in 2014. He was known for his strong commitment to infrastructure improvements, education, public safety, and advocating for working families.
Political leaders and colleagues across the aisle mourned his loss. Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn described him as a good friend passionate about representing Montgomery County. Democratic Caucus Chairman John Ray Clemmons called him an exemplary public servant who touched many lives. The Tennessee House Republican Caucus praised his unwavering commitment to community, faith, and Tennessee values.
Burkhart is survived by his wife, Cindy Greene, and daughter, Meredith Grace Burkhart. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
His life of service and dedication to Clarksville and Tennessee will be deeply missed by his community and legislative family.
