One of ‘UK’s first gay dads’ and husband charged with r@pe and trafficking after raid

One of “UK’s first gay dads” and his husband have been charged with multiple offences after cops raided their mansion home this week. 

Reality TV star and football club owner Barrie Drewitt-Barlow, 57, and his partner Scott Drewitt-Barlow (formerly Hutchinson), 32, were arrested during a police investigation this week. 

Barrie, a millionaire is the owner of non-league Maldon and Tiptree FC, lives in Essex with husband, which was one of the places raided by officers. 

Detectives leading an investigation into human trafficking for s£xual exploitation, r@pe and other s£xual offences on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, carried out a series of warrants. 

Officers from the Serious Crime Directorate at Essex Police carried out co-ordinated searches of premises in Danbury, Maldon and Braintree. 

In a statement, Essex Police said: “Detectives have secured charges against two men in connection with an investigation into human trafficking for s£xual exploitation, r@pe and other s£xual offences. 

Officers from the Serious Crime Directorate at Essex Police carried co-ordinated searches at premises in Danbury, Maldon, and Braintree on Wednesday (6 May) and arrested two men. Since then we have been liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service.

“We can now confirm that 57 year-old Barrie Drewitt-Barlow and 32 year-old Scott Drewitt-Barlow, both of Southwood Chase, Danbury, have both been charged with multiple offences including r@pe, s£xual assault, and modern slavery trafficking for s£xual exploitation.” Detective Inspector Lydia George, who is leading the investigation, said: “If anyone has any information they feel ready to share with us, I would ask them to contact us via the Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP) and the investigation team will provide you with any specialist support required.”

Both men are due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today, May 8. This incident comes after a gay teacher and his partner were arrested for s£xually abusing a baby boy they were adopting, leading to the child’s d£ath
