The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has denied rumors that Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah resigned from the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) board.
Marcus Haligah, the Minister’s Chief Director, has been appointed to represent him on the Board, according to a statement released by the Ministry on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. This arrangement is purely administrative and dates back to January 2026.
Additionally, the Ministry refuted rumors that the Minister and GoldBod were at odds. “The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, MP, has reportedly resigned from the Board of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), according to reports and social media posts. According to the statement, “The Ministry wishes to declare unequivocally that the reports are false and do not reflect the facts.”
According to the Ministry, Armah-Kofi Buah initially sat on the GoldBod Board personally before nominating Haligah to represent him, given that he was unable to attend every Board meeting and engagement. The Ministry attributed this to the Minister’s demanding workload — at the time, he was overseeing two ministries simultaneously, which made regular participation in Board activities increasingly difficult.
Arrangement consistent with GoldBod’s governance rules
The Ministry noted that designating a senior official such as the Chief Director to represent the Minister is fully in line with GoldBod’s governance framework, which permits designated representatives to serve on the Board on behalf of members where applicable.
