The custody dispute between Ghanaian fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her husband, Harold Duodu Norman, has taken a new turn after one of their daughters, Jesusa, reportedly refused to go with her mother despite a court ruling granting Addo custody of the couple’s two children.
In a video circulating on social media, the teenager was seen visibly upset during a tense confrontation with her mother after a court session. The incident occurred as Nana Akua Addo attempted to take custody of the children following the remand of her husband for two weeks.
The video shows Jesusa challenging her mother and demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding the family dispute. At the start of the footage, Nana Akua Addo was heard speaking to someone within the compound of their home, asking, “Have you seen what the guy has done?”
Jesusa immediately responded angrily, asking, “What did he do, I’m speaking to you, what did you do?”
The situation escalated when an unidentified man at the scene asked the young girl whether she intended to hit her mother. In response, Jesusa alleged that her mother had physically abused her since childhood and questioned why she should not have the right to retaliate.
“She has been beating me ever since I was a kid. So don’t I have the right?” she asked.
The man attempted to calm the situation, explaining that even if her mother had treated her wrongly, retaliation would not be justified. “Two wrongs cannot make a right,” he said, adding that a parent’s approach to discipline may have been wrong without necessarily meaning that the parent hated the child.
Nana Akua Addo appeared to accept the explanation before accusing her husband’s relatives of influencing her daughter. She said the paternal family was “weaponising” the child and using her in the marital dispute.
“They are only weaponising you, using you. I told you whatever is happening between me and your daddy has nothing to do with you,” she said.
Jesusa, however, continued to challenge her mother, alleging that the fashion personality was afraid because she knew the teenager would reveal the truth about events in the home.
The confrontation comes days after Harold Duodu Norman was remanded into custody for two weeks following a court session on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. During the same proceedings, the court granted Nana Akua Addo custody of the couple’s two daughters as arrangements are made to protect their welfare.
Nana Akua Addo, whose legal name is Rosemond Akua Adobea, had earlier petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service over alleged physical, emotional and economic abuse by her husband. The allegations remain under investigation and have not been conclusively established in court.
The latest development has attracted widespread attention on social media, with many Ghanaians expressing concern about the impact of the ongoing dispute on the children. Others have called for privacy and professional support for the family as the legal process continues.
The case has also renewed public discussion about child welfare in high-profile custody battles, particularly where children are caught between parents amid allegations of abuse and family conflict. Authorities and welfare advocates have repeatedly urged families in such situations to prioritise the emotional safety and stability of children.
As investigations continue, attention is expected to focus on how the court and child-protection authorities will handle Jesusa’s refusal, her allegations, and the need to ensure that the children’s welfare remains central to the custody arrangement.
