Attorneys representing three friends of Nolan Wells have threatened legal action against “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin, alleging she defamed their clients by linking them to Wells’ death.
According to a demand letter obtained by TMZ, lawyers for Warren Hudson, Jax Pitalo and Morgan Seymour say Hostin crossed a line during a July episode of “Behind The Table with The View,” in which she discussed Wells’ death.
The attorneys allege Hostin repeatedly referred to the three men as “these three boys” in comments they say effectively accused the group of serious crimes, including murder, hindering prosecution and evidence tampering.
The letter maintains that Hudson, Pitalo and Seymour had no involvement in Wells’ death, noting that the men cooperated with law enforcement, voluntarily turned over their phones and other information, and have not been arrested or charged in connection with the case.
The attorneys are demanding Hostin apologize, retract her statements and delete them, warning that a lawsuit will follow if she does not comply within 10 days.
In a statement to TMZ, the attorneys said: “We will continue to require accountability for bad actors who traffic in conspiracy theories and hoaxes regardless of the size of their audience.” They added that “recipients of our pre-suit demand and notice letters will face powerhouse lawsuits if they do not act to quickly undo the harm caused by their defamatory words,” and said additional letters are forthcoming.
Wells’ cause of death has not been publicly determined.
