Elon Musk Threatens to Ban Apple Devices Over OpenAI Integration

Elon musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has warned that he will ban Apple devices from his companies if Apple integrates OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its operating systems.

Musk expressed concerns over the potential security risks and privacy implications of this collaboration, labeling it an “unacceptable security violation.

“Apple recently announced its partnership with OpenAI, which includes integrating ChatGPT into its operating systems for iPhone, iPad, and Mac computers.

The integration will enable Siri to interact with ChatGPT, allowing users to ask questions and receive answers directly. Apple emphasized privacy protections, stating that user data would remain secure and IP addresses would be obscured.

However, Musk was skeptical of these assurances, stating that Apple lacks the capability to develop its own AI and is instead relying on a third-party AI that it does not fully control. He accused Apple of selling users down the river and questioned their ability to ensure the security and privacy of user data
“If Apple integrates OpenAI at the OS level, then Apple devices will be banned at my companies,” Musk wrote on X, his social media platform. “That is an unacceptable security violation.
“Musk also suggested that visitors to his companies would need to store their Apple devices in Faraday cages, which block electromagnetic transmissions, if the partnership proceeds.
The integration of OpenAI’s  ChatGPT into Apple’s operating systems is set to roll out later this year. The move has sparked debate over the potential risks and benefits of integrating AI into everyday devices.
