Renee Good’s former father-in-law says ‘I don’t blame ICE’ for deadly shooting

Renee Good’s former father-in-law said Tuesday that he does not hold U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) responsible for her fatal shooting in Minneapolis last week.

Speaking to CNN, Timmy Macklin described the incident as “a hard situation all around,” acknowledging that “some bad choices” were made.

“I don’t blame ICE. I don’t blame [Good’s wife] Rebecca. I don’t blame Renee,” Macklin said. “I just believe that if we were walking in the spirit of God, she wouldn’t have been there. That’s how I see it.”

Good was previously married to Macklin’s son, who passed away in 2023. The couple shared a son, now six years old.

Remembering his former daughter-in-law, Macklin called her “an amazing person” and “a good mother” who was “full of life.” He added, “We all make bad choices, and that’s the problem. There’s so much chaos in the world today. We need to turn to God and let Him guide us.”
