New York Giants Co-Owner Steve Tisch Acknowledges Past Email Exchanges With Jeffrey Epstein
New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch has responded to the controversy surrounding his name appearing in newly unsealed files tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
In a statement released through the Giants organization, Tisch clarified that while he had brief contact with Epstein years ago, their communication never extended to in-person meetings.
“We had a brief association where we exchanged emails about adult women, and in addition, we discussed movies, philanthropy, and investments. I did not take him up on any of his invitations and never went to his island. As we all know now, he was a terrible person and someone I deeply regret associating with,” Tisch said.
The acknowledgment follows the U.S. Department of Justice’s recent release of more than 3 million documents linked to Epstein’s criminal investigation. Among them were email exchanges from April and June 2013 between Epstein and Tisch, reportedly involving discussions about women and social matters.
Tisch’s family controls roughly 45% of the Giants franchise. He and fellow co-owner John Mara have led the team since 2005, after Tisch’s father, Bob Tisch, acquired a majority stake in 1991. During their tenure, the Giants have captured two Super Bowl titles and most recently named John Harbaugh as head coach.
Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell on August 10, 2019. His death was later ruled a suicide while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges.
