Montana State Coach and Player Have Tense Exchange After Game: ‘I Let My Emotions Get the Best of Me’

“In the heat of the moment, I let my emotions get the best of me and reacted in a way that was unacceptable,” the MontanaState running back wrote on social media after the incident

Julius Davis is apologizing for a confrontation that transpired between him and coach Brent Vigen after Montana State’s Dec. 6 game against Yale

Moments after the Bobcats took home the victory against the Bulldogs, the Montana State running back, who transferred from Wisconsin in April 2023, appeared to be yelling at the fifth-year head coach, who seemed to be steering him away from reconnecting with an alleged former teammate. Davis then swiped his hand to the side and walked away, as seen in videos from the incident.

After Vigen and cornerback Takhari Carr followed Davis across the field, the athlete appeared to shove Carr away before becoming embroiled in a heated exchange with Vigen. After a few moments of intense back and forth, the two then joined the postgame team huddle.
