Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said Sunday that Tehran is “not seeking nuclear weapons,” Fox News foreign correspondent Trey Yingst reported. Pezeshkian added, “We are ready to assure the world that we are not seeking nuclear weapons. We are not seeking instability in the region.”
His remarks come as U.S. and Iranian officials edge closer to a deal intended to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Reuters recently reported, citing Iranian sources, that Tehran was unwilling to surrender its near-weapons‑grade enriched uranium this weekend. U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly said preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon remains Washington’s primary objective.
