80-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of killing 55-year-old son

An 80-year-old woman has been taken into custody by Hiroshima City police on suspicion of strangling and killing her 55-year-old son.

At approximately 6:55 p.m. on Monday, Kazuko Kiyohara handed herself in at a police box in Naka Ward, stating, “I killed my son at a riverbank,” according to NTV.

When police arrived on the scene, they discovered Tsuyoshi, the woman’s son, comatose on the Kyobashi River’s bank. After being brought to the hospital, he passed away approximately ninety minutes later.

According to the police, Tsuyoshi had bruises around his neck that appeared to be from a thin cord strangling him.
