70-year-old woman arrested after strangling man in his 40s
After strangling a jobless man in his 40s at his home, police in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, have detained a 70-year-old woman on suspicion of attempting to kill him.
Police say the incident happened on Saturday between 5 and 7 a.m., according to NTV.
According to the police, Kazuko Shirato is suspected of using a thin rope to strangle the man. She later claimed to have killed someone when she called 110.
The man was unconscious when the police arrived. On Sunday, he was brought to the hospital and remained in critical condition.
The woman and the man’s relationship and whether she had a motive for strangling him have not been revealed by the police.
