President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that negotiations with artificial intelligence company Anthropic are “going fine.”
Trump made the comment to reporters at the G7 summit following a meeting between world leaders and tech executives, including Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei—the first public meeting between Trump and Amodei since the administration issued its access order.
The dispute centers on foreign access to Anthropic’s most advanced AI models, Fable 5 and Mythos 5. On Friday, the company disabled access for all users to those models after Trump ordered Anthropic to block foreign nationals from accessing them.
The Trump administration has cited “national security concerns” regarding Anthropic’s most advanced models. Spokespeople for both Anthropic and the Trump administration did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for additional details about the discussions between the two parties.
