President Donald Trump criticized Israel’s strikes on Hezbollah targets in Beirut on Sunday and urged an end to the fighting. In a Truth Social post, he said the attacks risk undermining progress toward a potential Iran peace deal.
“This morning’s strike on Beirut should not have happened, especially on a day when we’re close to a Peace Deal with Iran. Israel has the right to defend itself, but the act it was responding to was small and did not hurt anyone, and it should not derail this important process,” Trump wrote.
“We are very close to a deal that could bring peace to the region, including Lebanon. All sides should stand down. There should be no more attacks by Israel in Lebanon, and no attacks by Hezbollah against Israel. This could mark the start of a long, beautiful peace—let’s not blow it.”

Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process,” Trump wrote.
“We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down. There should be no more attacks by Israel anywhere in Lebanon, but there should also be no more attacks by any other party, including Hezbollah, against Israel. This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let’s not blow it!” he added.
