Mihlali Ndamase, a South African content producer and businesswoman, has vehemently refuted rumors that she was romantically involved with the late socialite Ginimbi and the late Zimbabwean millionaire Wicknell Chivayo, responding to what she called purposefully false allegations about her private life.
Ndamase claimed in a long message that was shared on social media on Thursday that she would not remain silent while untrue stories about her were propagated. “There comes a point where you have to draw a line between people having opinions and people deliberately creating narratives that simply aren’t true,” she wrote.
She said she had no objection to being discussed, criticised, or even misunderstood, but drew the line at fabricated stories tying her name to people she had never actually interacted with. “I know who I am, I know what I have done and, most importantly, I know what I haven’t done,” she added.
In response to the particular rumors, Ndamase was clear that she had “NEVER dated Wicknell” and had never even met him. Additionally, She pointed to one social media account that she blamed for always stirring up the story as she expressed irritation that the rumors kept coming up. “I don’t understand why some of you are so quick to run with narratives created by that imbecile on Twitter, knowing very well he only uses my name for relevance,” she said.
Rumours resurface after more than two years
The renewed speculation comes over two years after Ndamase was first linked to Chivayo, when the two were reportedly in Miami at the same time. Chivayo had publicly denied knowing her at the time, dismissing the dating rumours as false — a clarification Ndamase thanked him for, while criticising people for pairing her name with men she had never met.
In her latest statement, Ndamase said she intends to keep prioritising her peace, but made clear that this does not mean she’ll allow others to “rewrite” her character. “Respectfully, leave my name out of your lies,” she concluded.
Chivayo’s death
Wicknell Chivayo died alongside his wife and several others in a helicopter crash in Marondera, Mashonaland East, on Wednesday, September 30.
