Kurume Police Arrest Student for Allegedly Stabbing Father
Police in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, have arrested a 21-year-old vocational school student on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed his 58-year-old father in the head with a kitchen knife.
According to reports from TBS, the incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Emergency services were called to the home after receiving a report that a man in his 50s was bleeding from the head. The victim was transported to a hospital, where police said his injuries were not life-threatening.
The suspect, identified as Shota Suzuki, lived with his father and was present at the scene when authorities arrived. Police said Suzuki initially admitted to stabbing his father after being scolded over a minor issue but later retracted his statement, claiming he had no intention of killing him and could not recall the details of the incident.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.
