Doctor Sentenced to 30 Months in Matthew Perry Ketamine Case

A California doctor linked to Matthew Perry’s fatal overdose has been sentenced to 2.5 years in federal prison for illegally supplying the actor with ketamine in the weeks before his death.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, 44, who ran a Calabasas urgent care clinic, pleaded guilty in July 2025 to four counts of distributing the drug, which he sold to Perry for about $4,500-$57,000 in vials, lozenges, and syringes. U.S. District Judge Sherilyn Peace Garnett handed down the 30-month term, plus two years of supervised release and a fine, noting Plasencia fueled Perry’s dependency despite knowing his addiction history. Perry, 54, died on October 28, 2023, from acute ketamine effects, compounded by drowning and heart disease; Plasencia did not provide the lethal dose but texted a colleague calling Perry a “moron” ripe for profit.

Plasencia is the first of five defendants sentenced—others include “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha, facing her hearing soon after selling Perry 25 vials days before his death. Perry turned to Plasencia after his regular clinic refused higher doses for depression treatment. He surrendered his medical license and expressed remorse in court.
