China Condemns U.S. Over Maduro Capture, Says No Nation Should Act as ‘World Judge’

China has criticized what it calls unilateral actions by certain countries acting as “world judge,” following the reported capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro by the United States. Beijing’s statement, delivered through its Foreign Ministry on Monday, emphasized that international affairs should be managed through dialogue and respect for national sovereignty rather than through coercion or intervention.

A ministry spokesperson said China “cannot accept any country assuming a self-appointed role as arbiter of justice,” adding that such moves undermine international law and the principles of mutual respect. The remark came after U.S. officials claimed responsibility for detaining Maduro as part of a long-standing pursuit tied to alleged narcotics trafficking and corruption charges.

Beijing has long supported the Maduro administration, often opposing U.S. sanctions and backing Venezuela’s call for non-interference in domestic affairs. China’s latest comments highlight broader tensions between Washington and Beijing over global governance and the limits of U.S. power abroad.

Regional analysts suggest the situation could deepen divides among major powers, with some nations backing the U.S. move as accountability and others seeing it as overreach. For now, China’s stance reinforces its consistent message — that global order should not be dictated by a single nation.
