An American Airlines flight attendant was found dead on a Florida beach with injuries suggesting she had been struck by a boat, authorities said. Kellie Melinda Williams, 31, was discovered off Hollywood Beach in South Florida, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) confirmed to USA TODAY.
American Airlines issued a statement expressing sorrow and extending thoughts and support to Williams’ family, loved ones, and colleagues. The FWC said the injuries were consistent with a vessel strike, and the investigation is ongoing with a full report forthcoming.
Investigators suggested Williams may have been snorkeling or diving at the time she was struck by the boat.
The FWC would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Kellie Williams during this difficult time,” the agency said in a statement.
