Two bodies found in Yokohama hotel room in apparent murder-suicide
The remains of a man and a woman, which were discovered in a hotel room on Monday, appear to have been the result of a murder-suicide, according to Yokohama police.
The door to the couple’s room was locked, and the staffer who was supposed to check out of the Konan Ward hotel had not replied, according to police, who phoned 110, Sankei Shimbun. It was approximately 11:25 a.m. when police entered the hotel room and discovered the two deaths.
Police said the woman, who was in her late teens or early 20s, was face down on the bed, bleeding from a stab wound to the upper half of her body. The man, who appeared to be in his late 30s or early 40s, was found hanging near the door. Both were confirmed dead at the scene, and two knives were found in the room.
Police said the couple checked into the hotel on Sunday morning.
