south africa: Grieving Father’s Heartbreak Outside Court After Daughter’s Brutal Stabbing

Bellville, South Africa – A father’s voice cracked with unimaginable pain outside the Bellville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday morning, as he mourned the savage stabbing death of his 25-year-old daughter, Entle Manzi.“I will never be the same again,” Bhekisizwe Manzi said, his words trembling with emotion.

Entle was set to celebrate her 26th birthday on Friday, a milestone now shattered by violence. She was stabbed to death over the weekend in Parow Valley, in a case police have classified as murder and are actively investigating.

Family members, still reeling from the shock, gathered at the court for the first appearance of the man accused of the killing. Bhekisizwe, father to three children with Entle as the eldest, spoke of a fear that haunts many parents in South Africa.“As a father with daughters, I have always been on edge about the violence in South Africa.

I never thought that this would happen to me,” he said, his grief underscoring the pervasive threat of gender-based violence in the country.

The accused’s court appearance marks the family’s first step toward justice, but for Manzi, the wound of loss runs too deep to heal anytime soon.
