Man Charged With Felony Criminal Threats Against TikTok Los Angeles Headquarters

Culver City, CA — A local man, Joseph Jay Juant Mayuyo, 33, has been charged with two felony counts of making criminal threats after allegedly issuing multiple online threats targeting TikTok’s Los Angeles-area headquarters in Culver City. The charges were filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office following an investigation prompted by TikTok employees who reported receiving violent threat messages on social media.

According to the Culver City Police Department, Mayuyo made threatening posts on various social platforms, including issuing another threat on Friday, October 3, 2025. In response to the threat, TikTok evacuated their headquarters out of an abundance of caution to ensure staff safety.

Following the receipt of the threats, police obtained search and arrest warrants for Mayuyo’s residence. At approximately 10:10 p.m. on Friday, crisis negotiators contacted Mayuyo during a peaceful standoff that lasted over 90 minutes. The suspect ultimately surrendered without incident and was taken into custody early Saturday morning.

Authorities executed the search warrant at Mayuyo’s home and recovered items relevant to the investigation. Mayuyo remains held in custody with bail set at $100,000.

“This incident highlights our commitment to protecting community members and local businesses. All threats are taken seriously and are thoroughly investigated,” stated Culver City Police Chief Jason Sims.

Further investigation is ongoing as authorities work to understand the full context and motive behind the threats.
