Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost Assaulted at Private CAA Party During Sundance Film Festival; Suspect Arrested
Florida Congressman Maxwell Frost was assaulted during a private CAA event at the Sundance Film Festival, leading to the arrest of the alleged attacker.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Park City Police were called to the High West Saloon shortly after midnight on Saturday after a report of an assault at the invitation-only gathering. Investigators said Christian Young, who had earlier been denied entry, unlawfully gained access to the party.
Once inside, Young allegedly attacked Rep. Frost and a female attendee. Police stated that Young bypassed security through a side entrance while CAA hosted its annual Sundance kickoff for filmmakers, agents, and industry executives.
Authorities said the incident began in a restroom where Young caused a disturbance and made racially charged remarks, reportedly declaring pride in being “white.” Moments later, he exited the restroom and allegedly punched Frost. Venue security quickly detained Young until officers arrived.
Young was taken into custody and booked on charges of aggravated battery and two counts of simple assault, all carrying sentencing enhancements.
In a post on X, Frost confirmed he was the victim, noting that the attacker mentioned former President Donald Trump and threatened deportation before launching the assault. Frost added that the suspect was shouting racial slurs as he fled.
“The individual was arrested, and I am okay,” Frost wrote, expressing gratitude to the venue’s security team and Park City Police for their swift response.
