Brown Mogotsi Unleashes Explosive Corruption Allegations at Madlanga Commission

In a dramatic turn at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Tuesday, North West businessman Brown Mogotsi delivered explosive allegations unveiling rampant corruption and political interference within South Africa’s police force.

Mogotsi, accused of being a political fixer and intelligence contact agent, painted a disturbing picture of collusion involving senior police officials and political figures. He claimed former Police Minister Bheki Cele received R2 million from Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, a gangster with notorious links, and that Cele was aware of Matlala’s criminal background as far back as 2018 — contradicting the minister’s statements.

Further implicating the Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola, Mogotsi alleged she expected R25 million, collecting part of the demanded bribe while working in tandem with Cele to control top police leadership positions, including the alleged firing of Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya.

Mogotsi revealed he discovered the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team through social media leaks and admitted to leveraging payments from Matlala to subsidize travel for ANC members attending political events, linking these payments to political protection and contract tenders.

The testimony serves as a stark reminder of the challenges facing South Africa’s law enforcement system, highlighting urgent calls for transparency and accountability. Mogotsi’s evidence is expected to continue as the commission delves deeper into the alleged corrupt networks
