Golf Mourns Two-Time Major Champion Fuzzy Zoeller, Who Dies at 74

Fuzzy Zoeller, the charismatic American golfer and two-time major champion, has passed away at the age of 74. Zoeller made history by winning the 1979 Masters Tournament in his very first appearance and claimed his second major title at the 1984 U.S. Open. Over his illustrious career, he won eight additional PGA Tour events and numerous senior titles.

Known for his jovial spirit and trademark whistling on the course, Zoeller was a beloved figure in golf. However, his career was also marked by a regrettable controversy in 1997 when he made an insensitive joke about Tiger Woods, for which he later expressed deep remorse.

Born Frank Urban Zoeller Jr. in Indiana, his nickname “Fuzzy” was given by his father. He is survived by three children and remembered fondly by peers and fans alike. His impact on the sport both on and off the course will not be forgotten.

The golf community and fans worldwide extend their condolences to Zoeller’s family during this difficult time.
