As Thanksgiving Day approaches, many major retailers and restaurants are closing their doors to allow employees to celebrate the holiday with their families.

This year, significant retailers including Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowe’s, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Costco, Sam’s Club, Trader Joe’s, Petco, and PetSmart will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, reopening early on Black Friday for shoppers eager to take advantage of holiday deals.

Among the restaurant chains, several popular names will also close for Thanksgiving, such as Chick-fil-A, Chipotle, Chili’s, Panera Bread, Olive Garden, The Cheesecake Factory, and Red Lobster.

However, many fast food and casual dining establishments like Applebee’s, Arby’s, Burger King, Cracker Barrel, Denny’s, Dunkin’, IHOP, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Waffle House, and Wendy’s will remain open, often with reduced or adjusted hours to accommodate holiday guests

Consumers planning to shop or dine out on Thanksgiving should be aware of these closures and plan accordingly to avoid inconvenience. Many stores and restaurants are announcing special holiday hours online, encouraging customers to check before making plans.

By closing on Thanksgiving, retailers and restaurants emphasize the importance of the holiday as a time for gratitude and family, while gearing up for the busy shopping weekend ahead.
