Akon Arrested in Georgia After Driving with Suspended License, Released Within Hours”

Grammy-nominated singer Akon, whose real name is Aliaune Thiam, was arrested , in DeKalb County, Georgia, after authorities discovered he was driving with a suspended license.

The arrest was made by the Chamblee Police Department following an outstanding warrant issued two months earlier by Roswell, New Mexico.

The warrant stemmed from a September incident where police found Akon’s Tesla Cybertruck stranded due to a dead battery and discovered his suspended license due to failing to appear in court earlier related to a driving violation. During the traffic stop, an illegal vape was also confiscated from the vehicle.

Akon was held in jail for about six hours before being released. No formal charges have been announced, and there are no current extradition requests.

Akon, who is currently on tour in India, has not publicly commented on the arrest. His legal team is expected to coordinate with authorities to resolve the matter administratively. The arrest underscores how procedural legal issues can affect public figures regardless of their status
