Jamie Lee Curtis became emotional and tearful during a recent interview on Marc Maron’s “WTF” podcast while discussing the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the 31-year-old conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder.
Despite disagreeing with nearly every point Kirk made and finding his ideas abhorrent, Curtis expressed sadness over his killing and recognized him as a father, husband, and a man of faith. She hoped that in his final moments, Kirk felt a connection to his faith.
Curtis also reflected on the trauma of repeatedly witnessing tragic visuals, comparing the widespread circulation of videos of Kirk’s assassination to the media coverage of the 9/11 attacks and the JFK assassination footage. She expressed a wish to never see the footage of Kirk being shot.
Curtis initially confused Kirk’s name with “Charlie Crist” during the conversation, which she attributed to Kirk’s deep faith.
