Millions of Americans to Receive $1,390 Stimulus Payments Starting This Month

In a new federal effort to ease the financial strain on low- and middle-income households, millions of U.S. citizens will soon begin receiving a one-time stimulus payment of $1,390. The payments, distributed by the IRS, are expected to roll out throughout August 2025.

The relief is specifically targeted at individuals and families with incomes below certain thresholds, primarily based on 2023 tax return data. Those earning up to $75,000 annually—or $150,000 for married couples filing jointly—are eligible to receive the full payment. Households with slightly higher incomes may receive a reduced amount.

Besides taxpayers, recipients of federal benefits such as Social Security, SSDI, SSI, and VA benefits may also qualify for the payment. The IRS reminds non-filers to submit their information via the IRS Non-Filer tool to be eligible.

Payments are being sent mainly via direct deposit, with most recipients expected to see funds in their bank accounts by the end of August. Paper checks will be mailed to those without direct deposit information, though delivery may take an additional one to two weeks.

To avoid delays, the IRS encourages everyone to verify that their bank and mailing information is current.

Importantly, the stimulus payments are tax-free and will not impact existing benefits like Medicaid or SNAP.

This targeted stimulus initiative aims to provide immediate financial relief to help millions of Americans cope with the rising costs of food, housing, and energy.

For payment status updates, individuals can use the IRS’s “Get My Payment” online tool.

Stay tuned for more updates as payments continue to be distributed.
