A woman known only as Jane Doe has filed a civil lawsuit against the 55-year-old rapper, whose legal name is Shawn Carter. Doe claims that she was assaulted after being driven to an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000, according to the amended complaint that PEOPLE was able to obtain.

The news was first reported by NBC News.

In October, the same civil lawsuit was first filed in New York City, with only 55-year-old Sean “Diddy” Combs named as a defendant and the names of two celebrities redacted. On Sunday, December 8, a revised complaint was submitted to

The unnamed woman claims in the lawsuit, which was first filed on October 20, that Combs and Carter sexually assaulted her during a party in a New York City home following the VMAs, while an unidentified female celebrity looked on.

“Defendant Sean Combs, along with his longtime friend and collaborator Shawn Carter (a/k/a ‘JayZ’), drugged and raped a thirteen-year-old girl at an afterparty following the 2000 Video Music Awards,” the complaint states. “Another celebrity stood by and watched as Combs and Carter took turns assaulting the minor.”

On Sunday, Carter posted a lengthy response to the filing on Roc Nation’s X (previously Twitter) account, calling it “a blackmail attempt.” He denounced the charge as untrue and criticized Tony Buzbee, Jane Doe’s lawyer.
