A dentist accused of poisoning his wife is accused of trying to persuade another prisoner to kill a detective.
According to PEOPLE, the Colorado dentist who is suspected of poisoning his wife in order to begin “a new life” with an orthodontist in Texas has now been charged with attempting to have a detective assassinated.
A spokesperson for the Aurora Police Department told CBS News and NBC News that James Toliver Craig, 46, allegedly tried to have an Aurora police detective who was looking into the death of his wife, Angela Craig, killed a week after the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced new charges against him.
According to the outlets, James, who is being housed at the Arapahoe County Detention Center, attempted to persuade another prison inmate to commit the crime twice last month and in May and June of 2023.
On Nov. 22, the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office posted on X (previously Twitter) that James was charged with first-degree solicitation to commit murder and first-degree solicitation to conduct perjury. In addition, he entered a not guilty plea to a charge of first-degree murder related to the death of his wife last year.
Additionally, according to the police, James had been in “what appears to be a sexually intimate relationship” with another dentist in Austin, Texas, through email. It seemed as if “James was flying this woman into Denver while his wife and the mother of his children were dying in the hospital,” according to the affidavit. visit PEOPLEÂ for more details
