Prosecutors in Argentina dispute making Liam Payne toxicological reports public.

Following reports by U.S. media that British pop artist Liam Payne had many narcotics in his blood when he passed away, Argentine prosecutors on Tuesday refused to release the findings of his toxicology test.

The case’s lead prosecutor spoke with Geoff Payne, the father of the One Direction boy band member who died after falling from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires last week, according to the public prosecutor’s office.

According to a statement, the representative informed him that toxicology tests were still pending before the corpse could be released and gave him an update on the inquiry.

It stated that the office had not “disclosed any specific technical report outside the exclusive framework of the investigation and the judicial process corresponding to the case.”

Payne had a combination of narcotics in his system when he passed away, according to a Monday report from U.S. media.

Citing unnamed individuals familiar with the initial testing, ABC and TMZ said that “pink cocaine”—which contains methamphetamine, ketamine, and MDMA—had been discovered during a partial autopsy.

Payne has openly discussed his battles with substance misuse and adjusting to celebrity. He was discovered dead after staff twice phoned emergency services to report a visitor “overwhelmed by drugs and alcohol” was “destroying” a hotel room.

Prosecutors have stated that the 31-year-old was alone when the accident occurred and “was going through an episode of substance abuse,” according to post-mortem data.

In addition to looking through laptops, mobile phones, security camera footage, and photos, investigators also collected “numerous witness statements to reconstruct the victim’s final hours and the scene of the events,” according to the public prosecutor’s office.
