12-Year-Old Boy Arrested For Stabbing Six School Children Near Portuguese Capital, Lisbon

Lisbon – Although the perpetrator has been apprehended, the investigators are still trying to determine why the incident occurred.

A 12-year-old boy attacked six kids at a school in Azambuja, close to Lisbon, on Tuesday. The victims, according to Portuguese national police, were in the age range of eleven to fourteen.

Azambuja Mayor Silvino Lúcio verified that a youngster had a critical chest wound, although there is no risk to his life.

He was sent to one of Lisbon’s hospitals.

The Associated Press reported that five girls had minor injuries to their arms.

Although the perpetrator has been apprehended, the investigators are still trying to determine why the incident occurred.

Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro condemned the incident and extended wishes for a speedy recovery for the injured children.

He posted on social media platform X, calling the incident an “isolated attack” and rare in the country.

“It was an isolated act and a strange occurrence in Portuguese society, but one that should make everyone who works in public space reflect with a sense of responsibility,” Montenegro wrote.

This event has shaken the normally peaceful community, and the investigation is ongoing as authorities try to piece together the circumstances surrounding the attack.
