Suspected killer of an abducted FUNAAB student in Lagos is apprehended by the Nigerian Army
The arrest of Adeleye Ayomide, a suspect in the killing of a 300-level student at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Idowu Christiana, has been verified by the Nigerian Army.
On Monday, August 19, 2024, the deceased was taken by alleged kidnappers along the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos State.
A family source previously told PUNCH Metro, speaking on condition of anonymity, that the kidnappers first wanted N3 million in ransom before they would release the student.
But after repeated entreaties, the kidnappers collected N350,000 that was sent into their account and declined to release the student who had been taken hostage.
81 Division Nigerian Army spokesperson Lt-Col. Olabisi Ayeni verified Ayomide’s detention over the phone with our correspondent on Thursday when reached.
Yes, Ayeni said, “Yes, the suspect was apprehended by men from the 174 Battalion.” I am conscious of the problem. You may get further information by getting in touch with the Lagos State Police Command, as they will be receiving him from the 9 Brigade Nigerian Army today when we have him under custody.
Furthermore, Christiana’s murder was verified by the Student Union Government president of FUNAAB, Ibrahim Adeyemi, to one of our journalists over the phone on Thursday. He stated, “The union can confirm that she was reportedly killed by her abductor.” We’ll be taking care of this shortly.
Christiana’s death has continued to attract reactions from concerned Nigerians, especially users of the social media platform, X (formerly Twitter).
