American-Israeli Six hostages were discovered dead in Gaza, including Hersh Goldberg-Polin.

The deaths of six hostages held by Hamas, including Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, were found by Israeli forces in a tunnel beneath the Gaza city of Rafah, according to a late-Saturday announcement from President Biden and the Israeli military.

Mr. Biden expressed his shock and despair. “On October 7, while attending a music event promoting peace in Israel, Josh was one of the innocent people who were viciously attacked. In the brutal murder carried out by Hamas, he lost his arm defending friends and strangers.”

The remaining captives that were freed were named by the Israel Defence Forces in a statement as Carmel Gat, Eden Yerushalmi, Alexander Lobanov, Almog Sarusi, and Master Sgt. Ori Danino. According to the military, all six of them died just before Israeli soldiers arrived.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel would hold Hamas accountable for killing the hostages in “cold blood,” and blamed the militant group for the stalled negotiations, saying “whoever murders hostages doesn’t want a deal.”

Goldberg-Polin’s family issued a statement early Sunday, hours after the Israeli army said it had located bodies in Gaza.

“With broken hearts, the Goldberg-Polin family is devastated to announce the death of their beloved son and brother, Hersh,” it said. “The family thanks you all for your love and support and asks for privacy at this time.”

Goldberg-Polin was one of the best-known hostages as his parents had met with world leaders and pressed relentlessly for their help. Earlier this month, they addressed the Democratic National Convention, where the crowd chanted “bring them home

A guy named Goldberg-Polin, who had been wounded and had lost his left hand, was shown in a film that Hamas had published in April making a lengthy declaration that was obviously designed by Hamas. In the Oct. 7 attack, the Berkeley, California, native was injured by a grenade and lost a portion of his left arm.

In early April, his mother, Rachel Goldberg-Polin, told “Face the Nation,” “We are feeling extreme desperation, despair.” “And everyone in the U.S. government has given us hugs and open doors and wonderful access and sympathy.” However, this is a very binary circumstance.

Goldberg-Polin was abducted by Hamas during the terrorist organization’s Oct. 7 raid when he was attending the Nova music festival.

In a graphic film that was published in June, Goldberg-Polin and two other hostages being kidnapped by the Palestinian militants.
