53-year-old rapper Fatman Scoop passes away after passing out during a gig in Connecticut.

Rapper Isaac Freeman III, better known by his stage name Fatman Scoop, passed away on stage following a collapse at a Connecticut show.

According to Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett, the 53-year-old rapper had a medical issue on Friday while doing a performance in Hamden Town Centre Park. According to Garrett, he was taken by EMS to a nearby hospital.

Shortly before the fall, Scoop was seen energising the audience at Hamden’s Green and Gold Party in a musical video. Following his collapse, a number of people gathered around the back of the platform, and another artist was shown leading the audience in prayer.

Scoop’s tour manager Birch Michael confirmed the rapper’s death on social media. He did not provide any information about what caused Scoop’s collapse or death.

“I am honestly lost for words,” Michael posted early Saturday morning. ” You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet, the things you taught me have truely made me the man I am today.”

The rapper’s booking agency also confirmed his death to CBS News partner BBC News. A spokesperson for MN2S memorialized the New York native as a “beloved figure in the music world” whose “iconic voice, infectious energy, and great personality made an indelible mark on the industry.”

His family honored him in an emotional post on social media, remembering Scoop as a “father, uncle and friend” as well as a “world-class performer

The Freeman family commented, “He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage.”

Scoop’s 2005 song “Lose Control,” which she performed with Missy Elliott, also honoured the rapper.

She said on social media, “Prayers for STRENGTH during this difficult time for the Fatman Scoop family.” “For more than 20 years, Fatman Scoop’s voice and enthusiasm have been a part of several tunes that have made people happy and desire to dance. You have made a huge impact and will always be remembered.”

Scoop, who was most known for his 1999 smash track “Be Faithful,” also contributed guest vocals for Mariah Carey’s song “It’s Like That.” He was a radio host and hype guy in addition to his rap career. Later this year, he was supposed to play the British music event Reminisce. Social media users were left “heartbroken” by his passing, according to the festival hosts.

“Go easy, our friend,” the coordinators penned. “You will forever remain in our hearts.”
