JD Vance explains how Usha Chilukuri, his Hindu wife, contributed to the strengthening of his Catholic faith.

The vice presidential candidate of Donald Trump, JD Vance, has openly acknowledged that his Hindu wife Usha Chilukuri Vance helped him deepen his Catholic religion. Vance disclosed in a Fox News interview that despite growing up as a Christian, he wasn’t baptized until 2018. He talked about how his wife Usha, who was raised in a Hindu family, was incredibly encouraging to him as he began to re-engage with his Christian religion.

Looking back on her childhood, Usha credited her Hindu parents’ influence for her support of Vance’s spiritual quest. Despite their varied religious origins, she stressed the value of open communication in parenting their three children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel.
