In line with the presidential directives, NYSC has commenced the enrollment of corps members into the NHIS programme

– According to the NYSC boss, the scheme will now be footing the medical bills of the serving corps members
President Muhammadu Buhari has given directives for the enrollment of serving corps members into the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Brigadier-General Shuaibu Ibrahim, the director-general of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) made this disclosure on Monday, November 9.
Ibrahim, who announced this during a media chat in Abuja, said the scheme has finalised plans with the NHIS in line with the presidential directive.
The NYSC DG noted that with over 300,000 corps members mobilised nationwide per annum, the scheme remains a solid ground to breed future leaders and “drivers of national unity and development.”
He further said that NYSC will now be footing the medical bills of the corps members by expending huge resources on their critical health needs. In his words: “I wish to use this opportunity to again express our gratitude to the security agencies and other stakeholders for their support.
Furthermore, the scheme has concluded arrangement with the NHIS for the enrolment of corps members into the NHIS in line with a presidential directive.
We have also expended huge resources on critical health needs of corps members, including footing of medical bills.
