He explained that COVID-19 cases were on the decline when the lockdown was enforced but that cases spiked in a surprising manner after the lockdown was lifted.
He said the Nigerian government has to impose another lockdown if it wants to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, despite imposing a lockdown in Kaduna due to the coronavirus outbreak for close to two months, the state government has said that there is no fixed date for relaxing the ban.
Dismissing appeals for an easing of the lockdown, Governor Nasir El-Rufai said that he will personally inspect the Kaduna-Kano borders to make sure no one sneaks into his state from neighbouring places, Daily Trust reports.
The governor mentioned that countries of the world that have lifted the ban on gathering have paid dearly for the decision.
In another news report, a Nigerian actor identified as Femi Olaosebikan has taken to his social media page to plead with the governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, about allowing citizens who stay out after 8 pm to get to their homes.
The easing of the lockdown in Lagos state came with new rules. While citizens have been allowed to go about their daily activities, it came with the instruction that everyone must return back to their homes on or before 8 pm at night daily.COVID-19: Relaxation of lockdown would mean grave danger for Nigeria – Buhari
However, some citizens have complained that returning back home at 8 pm may not be feasible because of the traffic situation on many highways.
This seems to be the situation for Femi Olaosebikan as he was spotted with other motorists on the highway.
